Discussion Episode:  Favorite Love Movies Wherein (at least) One of the Lovers Dies

This week, Tyler Perry returns with a Medea Family Funeral.  We had designs on doing another funeral comedy, Death at a Funeral, but since this is the month of love, we thought we’d go with love stories that would end in a funeral.  That is to say that one of the lovers dies.  It’s a bummer but a fun list.

You Can Say That Again

Discussion Episode:  They Came Together

To cash in on the one day a year when we love our significant others, Rebel Wilson stars in Todd Strauss-Schulson’s Isn’t it Romantic.  This is Strauss-Schulson’s follow-up to a movie we like an awful lot, The Final Girls, but since we dedicate an entire month to movies like that, we thought we’d highlight another self-aware romantic comedy: David Wain’s They Came Together.

An Admittedly Poorly Timed Liam Neeson Episode

Discussion Episode:  Favorite Liam Neeson Movies

Well, we can certainly say Liam Neeson appears to be just as angry in real life as he is in the movies.  He’s made quite a bit of news this week with his comments in advance of Cold Pursuit.  Since this was already in the can, here it is, our five favorite Liam Neeson movies.  Obviously, if we would have had the time, we would have ditched the episode, such are the challenges when recording weeks in advance.

It snow joke that Mads Mikkelsen stars in a couple movies taking place in the snow: Arctic and Polar.  That fact, coupled with the frigid weather that has been hitting Movie on Up land has got us thinking about our favorite movies that take place in the snow.

The Heart of Glass

Discussion Episode:  Favorite Bruce Willis Movies

Bruce Willis and M. Night Shyamalan have teamed up again for Glass the follow up to 2017’s Split, which was a bit of a follow up to 2000’s Unbreakable.  Since we’ve already dedicated an episode to the director and Mr. Glass himself, Samuel L. Jackson, this week we give the Movies on Up treatment to Bruce Willis.
