2019 Fall Preview

Discussion Episode:  2019 Fall Preview

If it’s the end of September, it can only mean one thing.  Well, two things: the end of summer and the start of the Movies on Up Fall Preview.  This week we run down all the wide releases, and selected limited releases, all the way from Joker to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and everything in between.

Rambo Balboa

Discussion Episode:  Favorite Sylvester Stallone Movies

Almost 40 years after showing up in Washington to visit a buddy, John Rambo goes on one last blood-soaked mission in Adrian Grunberg’s Rambo: Last Blood.  We thought this might be a good time to look at the career of a guy who has brought us some of the most enduring franchises of all time: Sylvester Stallone.

The Best Movie You Haven’t Seen from 2018

Discussion Episode:  Destroyer

Nicole Kidman stars in John Crowley’s The Goldfinch this weekend and because we just did an actress list last week, we decided to dedicate an episode to our favorite Kidman movie from last year: Karyn Kusama’s Destroyer.  If you haven’t seen it, stop what you’re doing and watch it.  Now.  Go on, I’ll wait.

She’s Got It

Discussion Episode:  Favorite Jessica Chastain Movies

One of 2019’s most anticipated movies drops this weekend, Andy Muschietti’s It Chapter 2.  Jessica Chastain rejoins with Muschietti as Beverly Marsh and since we’ve already done an episode on It, this seemed like a great time do give one of our favorite actresses a list episode of her own.

School Daze

Discussion Episode:  Favorite Back to School Movies

Labor Day is on the horizon, and here in Ohio, that means back to school time.  Since there wasn’t much else going on this week, we decided to do our favorite back to school/end of summer/Labor Day movies.  Realistically, it’s just back to school movies.  Enjoy the school bus pulling up with us coming in your ears.

Get Off My Plane

Discussion Episode:  Air Force One

Gerard Butler is back to save the president again in the week’s Angel Has Fallen.  Terrorists are back to cause the president, who may or may not be Morgan Freeman trouble, this time on Air Force One.  Which got us to thinking about Air Force One, where Harrison Ford shows he doesn’t need any help to get terrorists off his plane.
